Tallahassee Community College Eagle Connections
KEYS is excited to continue its collaboration with Tallahassee Community College’s Eagle Connections Program, now educating 11 students with cognitive disabilities. This program, which we helped to launch seven years ago is in the process of becoming an approved member of the Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program recognized by the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities as codified by law in 2016. Once formally approved, the state will provide per- pupil funding to each student enrolled in the program. This is a result of the advocacy you have enabled us to pursue.
KEYS is grateful that Tallahassee Community College asked its members to collaborate with TCC leadership, local businesses, disability advocates, and educators to develop a credential that Eagle Connections students can earn. The credential will be a career starter that is recognized and valued by businesses and non-profit organizations.
Previous students who have graduated from the Eagle Connections Program will be invited back with scholarships provided to complete any additional coursework so they can earn the same credential.
The work on this credential commences in late September 2018 and we will report on its progress. If you are a business that would like to participate in developing the credential, please contact us.
